Are you a waterfall lover? Then Slovenia is your country. You won?t run out on options to chase waterfalls in the National Park of Slovenia ? you?ll find huge, small, powerful or soft waterfalls and the best, they?re just everywhere, you don?t need to go far!
Do you know the Slovenian word for waterfall? It?s called ?Slap?. It?s been the first time for us in Slovenia and we didn?t know what paradise we?re going to discover. We?ve stay in two different places: Lake Bohinj and Tolmin, two villages in the area of the national park Triglav. In total we?ve caught four waterfalls during our 10 days stay that we want to share with you. We?re going to explain where you find each waterfall, how is the walk going to be, how close you can get to it and if there is anything you should know:
1. Slap Boka | Waterfall Boka
Slap Boka is a huge waterfall just next to the National Park. Park at the hotel Boka and follow the signs to the waterfall. The walk takes about 10 to 20 minutes on an easy path with some stones and roots but not very steep. (We have seen people walking with sandals and flip-flops. It?s possible. But is it comfortable? We don?t know. Decide on your own risk.) From far you may see and hear the waterfall already. Then you will arrive to a nice platform where you have the best view on the water falling down more than 100 meters. Unfortunately you can?t get closer to the water then you can see on the pictures. But there is also the possibility to walk further to the origin where the waterfall starts falling down. This hike we haven?t done since the sun was going down already and we didn?t want to risk hiking back in darkness.

2. Slap Savica | Waterfall Savica
Slap Savica is located next to the lake Bohinj. Did you know that this waterfall is the source of the river Sava that joins river Donau in Serbia and together they flow into the black sea? You can get to the waterfall by walking, by bike, by car or bus. From the parking place there is a route to the waterfall that takes about 20 minutes. For entering the path to the waterfall you need to pay 3 Euros entrance fee. The path is well prepared and you mainly climb up stairs. Our tip for you: Have some empty water bottles with you. Just at the beginning of the path where you pay the entrance fee there is a fountain with really fresh water: ?The source of life!? Fill your bottles and feel the source of life! Arrived at the top you?ll find an impressive powerful waterfall that is enclosed by a fence. On the other side of the viewpoint you can see a bit of the lake Bohinj.

3. Slap Grme?ica | Waterfall Grme?ica
We went to Slap Grme?ica because to polish photographers recommended us this tiny and hidden waterfall. If you don?t want to share your adventure with other tourists then choose this waterfall: Just next to the river Sava this hidden beauty is located. You can park almost next to the river and walk about 10-15 minutes along the river. You can get very close to the waterfall, take an icy shower and swim. Or just take a picnic blanket and enjoy the view.

4. Slap Pericnik | Waterfall Pericnik
Our personal waterfall-highlight was definitely Slap Pericnik in the national park Triglav because of its special feature: Walking behind the falling water. You can get so close that you can feel the power and the refreshing water on your skin and the whole body. You can park the car just on the bottom of the waterfall or even a bit before to take a nice walk. If you park the car just next to the waterfall you probably need to pay parking fee (3?) since the parking belongs to a restaurant. Before walking up prepare yourself with warm close, waterproofed bags and towels – you?re going to get wet!
